Our Father’s Table is an all-volunteer feeding ministry proud to be serving the Fitchburg community for more than 40 years.
History of Our Father’s Table
On January 9, 1983, the first meeting was held among local church leaders to discuss serving the needy. It took only a little over a month before the first meal was served on February 22, 1983, at Christ Church. On April 1, 2008, we moved to Faith Christian Church. From the start there was no criteria for admission to our community meals and that still holds today. All are welcome!
Our Father’s Table started as an all-volunteer ministry and that also remains true today. Although meals are only served on Tuesday and Thursday, volunteers are continuously engaged in the planning and preparing required to serve our guests. There are seven members on the Board of Directors and all of them are hands-on. Meal preparation begins at 7:00 am with volunteers picking up supplies. More volunteers arrive as the day goes on. When you stop in for a meal and chat with the volunteers you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and have a heart for serving people. There are approximately 35 weekly volunteers and another 10 who come in as needed. Members of the Faith Christian Church are an important part of our volunteer community.

Food and meals from LifeCare of Leominster, Benchmark Senior Living, Slattery’s, Comeketo, Brady’s, Gold Bowl, Hannaford, BJ’s, Dutch Kitchen, Joyce’s Pies and Bakery, Great Wolf Lodge and the Worcester County Food Bank. Sunrise Assisted Living and Warmer Winters have knitting groups that provide hats, scarves and mittens. Churches that support us include Emanuel Lutheran Church, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Our Lady of the Lake and Centroid de Cultura Espiritier Amolice Domingo Soler Inc and we have 150 different donors annually who supply both money and goods. We even have entertainment on holidays supplied by Gibby Lashua.
